Hey friends,
As summer turns to early fall, it’s still blazing hot here in Nashville. But before long, the air will carry a chill, and the holidays will be upon us. With that in mind, I wanted to tell you about my next book, Be of Good Cheer: A Christmas Devotional. It’s already available for pre-order everywhere books are sold and will be in stores on October 1.
You might be wondering, “Why an Advent book?” Well, apart from Advent, there’s a risk of doing all the holiday things—going to every party, buying gifts, decorating, entertaining, and crossing every item off your to-do list and being so distracted and exhausted by December 25th that we miss the whole point of celebrating Christmas.
The Advent season provides the opportunity to ponder the enormity of the Christmas story. It gives us space to contemplate the Person of Jesus Christ and what His coming to earth as the long-awaited Messiah and Savior of the Universe really means. Observing Advent means there’s no chance of missing Christmas.
In just a few minutes of reading each day, we’ll have the opportunity to reframe our thinking. I hope Be of Good Cheer will guide us to the cradle of Christ, and we’ll linger there until our hearts, minds, and souls are filled with the One who is worthy of celebrating every day of the year. You can order Be of Good Cheer here and be ready for Advent on December 1. I’d be honored to have you read along.
In Him,
Susan

Hi Susan, just a little reminder for us sinners saved by Grace.
Jesus is the reason for the season 🙏
Indeed He is, Ronnie! Great to hear from you!
The book is a 40 day devotional. Is it meant to go from 1 Dec- 9 Jan or start before 1 Dec? Thank you.
Hi Tammy,
Thanks for your question. This year, Advent is from December 1 to December 24. We went ahead and included 40 entries to provide readers with extra content. The daily readings are short, so it will be easy to finish in 24 days. But if you want to do one a day through January 9, that would work great, too. There’s no right or wrong way to do it.
